Studio Box was out in Moutere recently to record the Waiata of some talented young people at Lower Moutere School.
They now have a collection of songs to share with their friends and whanau around the world.
The teachers had them so well prepared that every song was sung through beautifully on the first take!
I was standing quietly at the back of the room, and managed to capture a few 'behind the scenes' moments on my phone.
This was one of my favourite recording sessions I've had the pleasure of sitting in on so far.
It was so much fun and the kids were absolutely awesome.
Here it is! The final mix of the single, 'Control' by Nelson band - T.I.M.E. who were our Launch Competition winners.
Great job guys. We're really proud to share your song, and hope we can work with you again in the future!
Molly rocked into the studio straight back from school camp with her finger bandaged up from an injury the week before. What a trooper!
She was so professional and prepared, laying down her songs in single takes with ease. Her gorgeous voice stunned us all, and we were impressed by her clarity and focus whilst playing her guitar, which she made herself might I add.
It was easy to see why this young lady has enjoyed a series of awards and accolades in the past few years. She's only 15 years old, but displays a talent well beyond her years, and we will certainly be following Molly G Paige as her musical journey unfolds.
"I couldn’t be more stoked, honestly the biggest of thank you’s to yourself and the team for being so lovely and keeping a relaxed and good time while delivering some wicked results!!!" - Molly G Paige
What a great week we had recording the awesome talents of Reece Milton and Nelson originals band TIME!
Both acts did a fine job getting their songs down under the guidance of our in house guest Producer, Greg Haver who bought a wealth of knowledge and industry experience to share with us all. What a treat.
Reece recorded his track Once in a Lifetime which is sounding super sweet, and features Greg on the drums and Mark McKenzie on the bass.
Time got a bunch of their original songs down live and raw, and then focused more solidly on the production of their song Control.
We're still working on final mixes for the tracks, and the video made in the studio with Reece is currently being edited, but it won't be long until we can share the final results with you. Meanwhile, check out the behind the scenes video footage on our FACEBOOK page.
It's great to be back in the studio to get things rolling for 2018.
We have our Launch Competition winners Reece Milton and T.I.M.E all booked in and ready to start recording at the end of January.
Our super exciting news is that we have arranged for world renowned Producer Greg Haver to be in the studio during their sessions. It's going to be an extremely exciting time. Greg has an impressive Discography longer than my arm which you can check out on record-producers.com
This is what they have to say about Greg :
The Launch Competition was a great way to mark the opening of our recording studio. We made some great connections with the musicians in our community and we were totally blown away by the standard of all the entries we received.
The winners of the Band category were the trio T.I.M.E. who sent us a version of their song 'Control' which was filmed and recorded live at one of Nelsons finest live music venues, The Boathouse.
Reece Milton was the winner of the Soloist category. He sent us a great original song called 'Once in a Lifetime'. All three judges unanimously agreed that Reece's song was the winning entry, although there were some close contenders.
We're really looking forward to getting our winners into the studio to get their songs recorded!
Waimea College had a strong presence in the competition and the standard of their entries and several others has inspired us to create some additional offers so we can continue to foster our vision of creating a strong presence and contribution within the Nelson Original music scene.
